As you may be aware GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) laws came into force on 25th May 2018. These regulations will impact how companies and organisations collect, handle and store personal data. As a sporting organisation that obviously needs to collect and maintain information on our members, we have undertaken a full review of our Data Protection Policy to ensure compliance with GDPR.

Please note the following points with regard to the data that Wado Kokusai Suzuki-ha Karate- do Ireland (WKKI) collects and stores:

• WKKI will never pass member’s details onto any unauthorised third party or organisation.

• Access to member’s data is strictly limited to relevant WKKI personnel.

• Data is stored securely at all times. In the event of any Data breach we will notify the Data Protection Commissioner and cooperate fully with them in any investigation.

• Only relevant data will be collected from our members.

This includes, Name, Address, Date of Birth, Telephone number, Belt grade.

Senior Grades the above information and, Coaching, First Aid, Garda Vetting, Safe Garding and Referee Qualifitations.

As you will also be aware WKKI is a member of O.N.A.K.A.I. the governing body for Karate in Ireland. As part of membership we have to share our members details with them. We have been in contact with 0.N.A.K.A.I. and have received assurances that they are fully GDPR compliant.

WKKI will from time to time contact you by email to keep you up to date of events and news relevant to the sport and our clubs. These are not considered to be marketing emails as they keep you our member, informed of upcoming events and News.

Clubs may run Whats App groups to keep members informed of training times or changes to training times or venues or to relay information to their members.

 If for any reason you would prefer not to receive any emails or other communication from us, simply let us know and we will remove you from any relevant mail or contact lists.
